About the event

On International Women's Day Dr. Sura Hadad , dentist, entrepreneur and social activist, and Wafa Al-Amm, the founder of One Frame Production Company, a journalist, writer and activist in the field of empowerment of women, organized an event in the 6th March 2023.

This event will bring women entrepreneurs together to celebrate their successes, communicate with each other and build networks for support in addition to learning some tips to further develop their business. This celebration will include presentations for successful practices, influential communications, and experiences of women in leadership roles. This event will allow businesswomen to meet with each other, express themselves and the challenges they face, as well as share success stories.

It will also include three mini workshops on Social Media Management, Leadership Qualities, and Networking Practices. These newly learned skills will impact their daily practice and bring their goals to the next level. We will make it simple, fast, and fun. In addition, there will be prizes and a buffet lunch.

Our Story
A group of women at a business meeting

Why this event?

Women make continuous efforts to achieve their goals and reach what they aspire to, but must overcome many hurdles in the process. We believe that on the occasion of International Women's Day, women deserve to be honored and recognized for their efforts in serving society and the economy, and deserve our support.

As activists in the field of women's empowerment, and as entrepreneurs, we are interested in supporting women in their endeavour to reach their lofty visions.

Through this event, we can achieve many goals:

  • Gather women to celebrating their day.

  • Provide moral support and appreciate their efforts.

  • Listen to successful stories for inspiration and share their stories between each other.

  • Open the way for communication between them, exchanging experiences, knowledge, and expressing themselves, their challenges, and successes.

  • Contribute to empowering women and their presence in important events in their community.

  • Expand their business by cooperating with other businesswomen and opening up new possibilities for them by building networks that support each other.

Getting There

The Orgnizers

hadad_profile.png

Dr. Sura Hadad:

She is a dentist, a faculty member at Dalhousie University, an activist in the communities of Nova Scotia, an entrepreneur, and mother of 4. Her dedication to helping others and quest to make the world a better place has earned her the 2019 Aurum Award from Dalhousie, and a platinum Jubilee Halifax West Community Hero Award. She has also earned a Nova Scotia Dental Association Volunteer of the Year Award. Sura has a scholarship in her name for the second year student, which is given to internationally trained dentists to continue their studies at Dalhousie University.

Through her work as a dentist, she helped and supported many vulnerable groups, led by the refugees who flocked to Nova Scotia during the past few years. Additionally, she has expanded her activities of volunteering by providing dental/medical assistance in remote areas of Africa by traveling with voluntary medical campaigns, despite the risks that the team may be exposed to. Sura has also been active as a leader eager to help people in need in collaboration with Feed Nova Scotia, Bayers Road Westwood Community Center, and Souls Harbour, to name a few.

Sura is active in the field of entrepreneurship and supported the empowerment of women at political and economic levels. This support is spread to not only women, but all segments of society, as she promotes small businesses through her Facebook page. Because of her dedication, she was chosen to run for the Progressive Conservative Party in the Bedford South. Even though she narrowly missed the win, Sura continues her work in many Nova Scotian communities. As an entrepreneur. Sura also succeeded in building a thriving dentistry and using her knowledge to be philanthropic in the local communities.
